I am excited for many reasons tonight. I finally (hand)made some business cards with the help of a wonderful, talented and crafty chica, Evelyn from popupcrafts! I love how they came out considering how last minute this was.
I am mostly excited because later on today, I will be starting my first Artist Residency with my art collective, Traction! In our show, We Been Here, I will be experimenting with alternative processes to create a narrative of my community and people that will hopefully deconstruct some negative stereotypes and reputation associated with Washington Heights and the people who live here.
"We Been Here" a NomAA Atelier Residency/Workspace show made possible by Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance (NoMAA) Broadway Housing Communities (BHC), and No Longer Empty (NLE).
For updates on our work, you can follow our collective blog here.
